Rare are the days that I come across a work of art in which I can find absolutely no flaws. Being quite impressed by Zoät-Aon’s previous release “Star Autopsy”, I could not wait to put my ears to their latest album “The Triplex Bestial.” My expectations were high. My expectations were met and exceeded.
“The Triplex Bestial” is an album that knows exactly where it is going. Covering ground in just about every sonic corner of the genre, this album is not afraid to be downright disturbing even after it has already lulled you into a sense of tranquility. So many layers are here to explore: organic, synthetic, and everything in between. It is neural navigation translated into sound, and the sound digs deep into something non-human… something primitive.
Never does this work drift into the background. From the first track to the last, my interest in firmly planted into the auditory soundscapes. There is a frequent enough evolution in the sonic space to give the entire story a strong progressive feel. I often found myself in suspense of what I was going to be introduced to next. The hook had been lodged and because of the aggressive nature of this album, I still can’t stop writhing and struggling to remove it.
I cannot praise Zoät-Aon enough for making such a perfect composition. I’ve dug deep into this release and still cannot find a single flaw. Texture after texture, wave after wave I am overtaken by such creative soundwork and wizardry that I am reminded why I love this kind of music. “The Triplex Bestial” is filled to the brim with thought provoking layers to explore and transitions to get lost in.
